1. Applicability- These Terms and Conditions apply to all use of the Franchise app (the "App"). By creating an account and using the App you accept these terms.

2. Account and access- You are responsible for keeping your account details and password confidential.- You must not share your account. If you suspect unauthorized use, contact moviefranchise25@gmail.com.- You can edit your account and profile via Settings > Account in the app. Email changes and account deletion require additional verification (re-authentication). We may block, restrict, or remove accounts in case of abuse or breach of these terms.

3. Acceptance of default viewing order- During sign-up you will be asked to accept the App's Default viewing order. This default may be based on in‑universe chronology or release dates, as described in the app.- Acceptance of the Default viewing order is recorded in your account. You may change this preference at any time via Settings > Viewing Preferences.

4. Data and privacy- The App stores data in Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) and locally on the device (SharedPreferences). See our Privacy Policy for details about which data is collected and how it is processed.- Personal data is not shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law.

5. Content and intellectual property- All rights to the app software, texts, layout and databases belong to the owner of the App (J. Buijs / username Jbuijs02) or its licensors.- Franchises, titles, and trademarks mentioned in the App are the property of their respective owners.- You may only use the App for personal, non‑commercial purposes unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing.

6. User content- Content you upload or publish (such as lists, comments) remains your property, but by posting you grant the App a non‑exclusive, worldwide license to use that content in connection with the service.- You must not post illegal, harmful, or infringing content. Violating content may be removed.

7. User obligations- You shall not use the App for illegal purposes, spam, distributing harmful code, or infringing rights of others.- Violation of these terms may lead to warnings, restrictions, or termination of access.

8. Liability and warranty- The App is provided "as is". Where legally permitted, the App excludes liability for indirect damage, consequential loss, and lost profits.- The App is not liable for incorrect or incomplete data submitted by users.

9. Changes to services and terms- We may change, temporarily disable or discontinue features. Changes to these terms will be published in the App. Significant changes will not take effect earlier than 30 days after notification, unless immediate change is necessary.- We reserve the right to adjust the Default viewing order and how it is determined; users will be informed and can change their preference via Settings > Viewing Preferences.

10. Termination and data deletion- You can delete your account and personal data via Settings > Account in the app. Re‑authentication is required for deletion. Alternatively, send a request to moviefranchise25@gmail.com.- When an account is deleted, we remove personal data from our active systems within 30 days; backups may be retained for up to 90 days. Aggregated and anonymized data may be retained for internal analysis.

11. Force majeure- The App is not liable for failures caused by force majeure, including third‑party outages, internet failures, or other circumstances beyond our control.

12. Governing law and disputes- Dutch law governs these Terms and Conditions. Disputes should preferably be resolved amicably; if necessary they will be submitted to a competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory law dictates otherwise.

Final clause- This document constitutes the entire agreement between you and the owner of the Franchise app regarding use of the App. This is not legal advice; it is recommended to have the text reviewed by a lawyer and adapted to your personal situation and applicable law.

Privacy Policy which data we retain

1. Who is responsible- Data controller: J. Buijs (natural person, owner of the "Franchise" app). For privacy questions: moviefranchise25@gmail.com.

2. Which personal data we collect and why- Account and authentication - Email address (for sign-in, managed via Firebase Authentication). Purpose: access and account management. - Username, birthdate (user profile in Cloud Firestore). Purpose: profile display and age-related features.- Profile and preferences - Profile picture index, favorite franchises (stored in Firestore and optionally locally in SharedPreferences). Purpose: personalization. - Theme, language, font size (stored in SharedPreferences and optionally in Firestore). Purpose: remember user preferences.- Progress and usage data - Which movies you mark as 'watched' (userWatched collection in Firestore). Purpose: track progress, personalized recommendations, show watch status. - Aggregated statistics/counters for app analysis (anonymized or aggregated where possible). Purpose: improve the app and features.- Technical metadata - Log and error data for debugging, performance, and security. Purpose: ensure stability and security.

3. Where we store data (technical locations)- Firebase Authentication (authentication data).- Cloud Firestore (profiles, preferences, progress, statistics).- (Optional) Firebase Storage (if user profile uploads are allowed).- Locally on device: SharedPreferences (interface preferences like theme, language, font size, and sometimes a local cache of favorites).

4. Access and security- Only authorized app administrators, back-end services and systems with minimal privileges have access to personal data.- We use Firebase Security Rules and standard security measures (encryption in transit, access control).- We do not share personal data with third parties without explicit consent, unless legally required (e.g. court order).

5. Retention periods and deletion of data- You can change your email and delete your account via Settings > Account. Re‑authentication is required to prevent abuse.- Alternatively, you may send a request to moviefranchise25@gmail.com; such requests are processed according to this policy.- Upon confirmed account deletion we remove personal data from active systems within 30 days. Backups and inactive copies may remain for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.- Aggregated and anonymized analytical data may be kept for internal purposes and cannot be linked back to you.- Specific retention periods may vary by data type; contact moviefranchise25@gmail.com for details.

6. Rights of data subjects- You have rights of access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability where applicable by law.- Requests can be made via the app (Settings > Account > Privacy / Requests) or by email to moviefranchise25@gmail.com. Provide your account email or username and indicate the right you wish to exercise.- We respond within legally prescribed timeframes (usually 1 month). For verification we may request additional information to prevent misuse.- If a request is not fully honored we will explain the reason and inform about complaint options with the supervisory authority.

7. Third parties and transfers- For operational purposes we may use service providers (e.g. Firebase/Google). These parties process data as processors under contract.- Transfers outside the EU/EEA take place only with appropriate safeguards and in compliance with applicable law.

8. Cookies and similar techniques- The app uses local storage (SharedPreferences) for settings and caching. Web components (if any) may use cookies or local storage; details are provided in the cookie statement or app settings.

9. Changes to this privacy policy- We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. The latest version and effective date are kept in this document.

Final clauseBy creating an account and using the Franchise app you consent to the data processing described above for the stated purposes, in accordance with this privacy policy.

Account & Data Deletion

If you want us to permanently delete your account and personal data, please follow the instructions below.

How to request deletion
Send an email to moviefranchise25@gmail.com with the subject "Data deletion request" and include:

• The email address or username of the account you want removed
• Your app user ID (if you know it)
• A short confirmation that you want all personal data removed

You can also delete your account from inside the app: open the Settings page and choose "Edit Account" → "Delete Account".

What we delete
We will remove personal data that is directly linked to your account, such as profile information, account settings, and personal collections (for example lists). Aggregated or anonymized data used for analytics may be retained.

Timeline & confirmation
We process deletion requests within 30 days. After we complete the removal we will send a confirmation email to the address you provided. If we need more information, we will contact you using the same email address.

Facebook automated requests
Facebook may send automated deletion requests on behalf of users. At the moment we process deletion requests manually. If you prefer automatic handling, contact us at moviefranchise25@gmail.com and we can set up an automated deletion flow.
